Republican candidate Herman Cain just announced ... he is suspending his Presidential campaign -- effectively dropping out of the race.
Cain made the announcement moments ago in a news conference in Atlanta -- claiming he is making the decision "because of the continued distraction, the continued hurt, caused on me and my family" by recent sexual harassment allegations.
Cain said, “I am at peace with my God. I am at peace with my wife, and she is at peace with me.”
Cain said he will soon be announcing his endorsement of another candidate.

The second fight at the 2011 Fight for Life between Wairangi Koopu and Matua Parkinson was put on hold at the beginning with Koopu having his own “Sonny Bill Williams” moment.
Koopu used his reach and straight punch to pick Parkinson off and was content to do that until late in the second round where he rocked the rugby player with a bevy of punches.
Koopu started the final round just as he had finished the previous, attacking Parkinson and forcing him to hang on and struggle to keep his feet.

Sheriff-of-the-year trades meth for sex
Retired Arapahoe County Sheriff, Patrick J. Sullivan Jr., is being held at the Patrick J. Sullivan Jr. Detention Facility for unlawful distribution, manufacturing and dispensing of a controlled substance.
The Colorado acility was named after Sullivan when he retired back in 2002 after serving 40 years as a law enforcement official.
Ironic, isn’t it?
The 68-year-old former cop was arrested on Tuesday after he was caught with a hidden video camera handing over what appeared to be methamphetamine to an adult male in the bedroom of an Aurora residence, according to an arrest affidavit.
Sullivan now finds himself on thin ice as he is being accused of trading meth for sexual favors.
Two adult males, whose names aren’t being disclosed, claim they had participated in sexual activities with the retired sheriff in exchange to get high.
The investigation that led to Sullivan’s arrest stems from an incident in September where a man dialed 911.
The caller expressed concern over an “old guy” getting his roommates “back into drugs.”
The caller had confronted Sullivan and demanded he leave the property, according to an ABC affiliate in Denver. Sullivan’s response, they report: “if you want the police, I am the police.”
From there, Sullivan displayed his badge and left with the callers three roommates.
Sullivan attempted to get off the hook shortly after. The ex-“sheriff of the year” called the dispatcher hours after the dialer called 911 and claimed he was part of “a meth drug task force” and was helping recovering addicts sober up.
The probe conducted by the Drug Task Force and Sheriff's Office investigators had the two informants place several phone calls and exchange multiple text messages with Sullivan about scoring what the DEA website calls “stove top” — and even this close to Thanksgiving, those in the sting weren’t talking abouto turkey stuffing.
An Arapahoe County judge doubled Sullivan’s bond to half a million dollars on Wednesday and ordered Sullivan not to attempt to make contact with anyone involved in the case.
Sullivan's attorney objected to the increase since as of yet no charges have been filed.
“The allegations of criminal behavior involving Pat Sullivan are extraordinarily disturbing,” says Grayson Robinson, the current Arapahoe County Sheriff, to the ABC affiliate in Denver.
"While the arrest of the former sheriff is very troubling, the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office continues to ensure that those who are responsible for criminal behavior and the victimization of our community will be held accountable by the criminal justice system. No one, and particularly a current or a former peace officer, is above the law. The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office has always demonstrated a solid commitment to our community and to public safety. This is a very sad time for the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office and our community,” Robinson adds.

Vanessa Long, the wife of beleaguered megachurch pastor Bishop Eddie Long, has filed for divorce, it was announced Friday.
"After a great deal of deliberation and prayer, I have decided to terminate my marriage to Bishop Eddie L. Long. Accordingly, I authorized my attorneys to file for divorce on December 1, 2011," Vanessa Long said in a statement.
Last fall, four young men accused Eddie Long, senior pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, of coercing them into having sex. Their lawsuits were settled in May, then dismissed.
Also in Vanessa Long's statement: "It is my sincere hope that this matter can be resolved expeditiously, harmoniously, and fairly. I ask that you respect my privacy and that of my family, as my attorneys and I have agreed that we will not try this case in the media, and I do not intend to make any further statements concerning this matter."
Long married Vanessa Griffin in 1990. They have three children together Edward, Jared and Taylor.
The lawsuit dismissals, first reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, prevent the four defendants from suing Long again for the same alleged offense.
The accusations made against Long by Anthony Flagg, Spencer LeGrande, Jamal Parris and Maurice Robinson alleged that the bishop used his influence, trips, gifts and jobs to coerce them into sexual relations.
Long denied the men's allegations through a spokesman shortly after they first became public in September and told his congregation he planned to "vigorously" fight them.

MSU Cheerleader Taylor Young Recovering After Horrifying Fall [GRAPHIC VIDEO]
It is often noted that cheerleading is one of the most dangerous sports out of there, and anybody watching the Michigan State vs Florida State college basketball game Wednesday was reminded of that when MSU cheerleader Taylor Young landed right on her head after falling backward off of a male cheerleader’s shoulders.
With the crowd stunned silent and her fellow cheerleaders looking on in horror, Young lay on the ground for two minutes before being strapped into a stretcher by medical personnel.
Thankfully, Young was moving her extremities and flashing smiles by the time they rolled her off of the court, and the 20-year old was released from the hospital earlier Thursday morning with a clean bill of health.
The video of the incident, which could be disturbing to some, is below.
